There are so many ways to travel. I almost like them all. They each have their own charm and very special justification in my travel bag. The most important thing is to experience. To have the experience in the present and be able to take it home. For some, the journey begins when they arrive. For me, it starts when the thought is there!
Come with me and experience travel !

Rome is my place for dining experiences and the Vatican is my place for maps and breaks. It can be said this simple. I love eating out in Rome. Not at upscale restaurants, but at locals' favorites. Google Earth is amazing and a place I can spend hours exploring the world. Rome has the 16th century version of Google Earth. Well tucked away, on the way to one of Michelangelo's masterpieces, in the Vatican. Right next to my favorite place to take a break in hectic Rome - St. Peter's Basilica. Food to eat, a place to take a break and maps for your travel dreams - what more could you ask for as a traveler?

How to travel from the Atlantic to the Pacific by train in an hour? The answer is found in Panama. I took the Panama Canal Railways from Colon to Balboa along the Panama Canal. A railway built before the canal and connected with the history of the United States and not least California. Take on the historic journey, through the jungle, past locks and ships that suddenly come close.

Temples, temples, temples and then more temples. Monasteries, stupas and pagodas. It's Bagan in Myanmar. Experience the vast number of Buddhist monuments of the ancient Pagan kingdom - on an electric scooter. Become your very own Indiana Jones without a whip, but with a scooter handle and helmet. Discover the beautiful interior of the monasteries and enjoy the view of the Bagan plain from the top of the highest. Brush the dust off at the end of the day and enjoy a cold beer and the sunset over the Irrawaddy River - Kipling's "road to mandalay".

Along the small English roads In Hampshire, Highclere Castle suddenly and majestically appears behind the trees. The castle is the residence of the Earl of Carnarvon and has been since 1679. But it is best known as the location of Julian Fellow's stunning series Downton Abbey. I step in through the huge front door and one almost expects to be greeted by the butler - Carson. But Highclere is so much more than Downton Abbey. The Carnarvon family also hides a close connection to the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun and afternoon tea in the castle's "Coach House" is fantastic. Beat your belly under a tree in the castle park and go for a walk in the beautiful garden, then you feel almost like an Earl for a day.
